TASPA’s 2018 in Review

For TASPA, 2018 was a year of change and many “firsts”. It was the first full year for new leadership with Dr. Lolly Guerra and Nancy Cowley completing a year as Executive Director and Program Director respectively. It was the first year for new partnerships as TASPA was able to secure its first corporate partnership with PowerSchool (People Admin) agreeing to become a partner in supporting TASPA’s overall mission and activities. During 2018, TASPA’s conferences also experienced a first year at new locations with the Summer and Winter Conferences being held at the Austin Renaissance Hotel and the Fall Support Staff Conference moving to San Marcos at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center.

Despite all the “firsts” we are happy to report that TASPA had a very successful and productive year. TASPA staff presented over 30 workshops throughout the State, TASPA held 3 major conferences, and held the first regional mini-conference at South Padre Island with Region One ESC. These professional development activities also included collaborating with AASPA and Battelle for Kids to host two HCLE sessions for administrators to pursue certification as Human Capital Leaders in Education. In total, there were close to 3000 participants during the year at TASPA’s various professional development activities. In addition, for the 23rd consecutive year, TASPA was recognized by AASPA as the best large affiliate with its Arch S. Brown Award.

TASPA staff is truly grateful for the support of all our members and sponsors. We are particularly appreciative of Frontline Education, iteachTEXAS, PowerSchool, and Texas Teachers without whose support the conferences would not be possible. We look forward to a productive and successful 2019!
