All Dogs Go to … Work? Service Animals in the Workplace
The use of trained dogs to assist disabled individuals has significantly increased in the past ten years. It is not uncommon to see dogs on airplanes, at basketball games, or in grocery stores. But what about when a district employee is seeking to bring their dog to work to accommodate a disability? This presentation will focus on providing clarity around an employee’s right to bring a dog into the workplace. Walsh Gallegos attorneys will discuss the process for receiving and considering an employee’s request for a dog as a reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act and will work through hypothetical scenarios to provide practical guidance for how to handle your first (or next) service animal request.
