Mary Charley of SBEC passed away March 25

It is with great sadness that I inform you that Mary Charley passed away the night of Sunday March 25.  Please keep Mary’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Funeral information will be forwarded as soon as possible.

Mary had a bachelor's degree in education from Baylor University and held a Texas teacher certificate.  She began her career in teacher certification in 1980 when she was employed as a certification specialist in the Division of Teacher Certification at the Texas Education Agency.  She had been with SBEC since it was created in 1995 and served as Director of the Office of Credentialing Services, then as Director of Field Services for the Department of Educator Certification and Standards at TEA.  She was a certified Texas educator with over 26 years of certification experience with TEA and SBEC. Mary was a tireless public servant, and was truly committed to SBEC's mission of ensuring the highest level of educator preparation and practice to achieve student excellence.  She was a friend and supporter of TASPA, and presented regularly at our annual conferences.  She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
