Dear TASPA Member:

Thank you for your participation in TASPA! We hope that your ‘08-‘09 school year got off to a great start. In this notice  you will find links for announcements and registration forms for several conferences that will help your district stay on track and continue to succeed. Please share these announcements with your HR colleagues and other interested staff. They do not have to be a TASPA member to attend any of these workshops.

The Fall Support Personnel Conference runs Sunday, September 21, through Monday, September 22, at the Austin Doubletree Hotel. Please share this announcement with personnel secretaries, certification clerks, benefits specialists, principals, and other interested individuals in your district. General sessions include TRS, fingerprinting, and legislative updates, and motivational speaker Sally Baskey, who will present "Self-Medicate with Humor". The 32 breakout sessions will cover HR best practices, federal and/or state regulations, and other timely topics for HR. In addition, TASPA is offering at no additional fee an optional 4-hour certification/ NCLB workshop with Kerri Elzie of the SBEC and Cory Green of the TEA NCLB Division. The workshop will focus on assignment rules for educators from both an SBEC and NCLB standpoint, and will cover common scenarios where assignment questions often arise. Registration to the Fall Conference is required for participation in the certification workshop.

TASPA is also offering several regional One-Day Documentation Workshops featuring Dr. Frank Kemerer and Dr. John Crain, authors of the New Fourth Edition of the Texas Documentation Handbook. Individuals and vertical teams of human resources personnel and campus-level administrators are encouraged to attend. Each workshop is limited to 60 attendees, so please register early! The TASB/TASPA Personnel Administrators Academy is a great learning opportunity for new directors in HR, or as a refresher for experienced administrators. This two-day workshop will be held November 3-4 2008 at the Austin Marriott North in Round Rock. Sessions are presented by TASB subject experts, attorneys, and experienced HR Directors.
